Terms
The agreement between you and us, in the plainest words we can manage.
Last updated 13 September 2026
Using TailGPT means agreeing to what follows. If you are setting it up for a company, you are agreeing on that company's behalf.
What the service does
You give us the address of a website. We read the pages you choose, and we give you a chat bubble that answers visitors' questions from what those pages say. It answers from your content and nothing else — and when your pages do not cover a question, it says so rather than inventing an answer.
Only websites you control
You may add a website you own or are authorised to act for, and no other. Pointing us at somebody else's site would have us copy their content on your instruction, which is not yours to give. You are responsible for your website's content, and for having the right to let us read it.
Your account
- Keep your password to yourself; anything done with it is treated as done by you.
- One person, one account. Share the chatbot, not the login.
- Tell us promptly if you think somebody else has got in.
What you may not do
- Use it to publish anything unlawful, or anything designed to deceive.
- Try to make the chatbot answer as something other than what it is — a helper for the website it was given.
- Attack the service: automated hammering, attempts to reach other customers' data, or probing for holes without asking us first.
- Resell the service as your own without a written agreement.
What we may do about it
We may suspend or close an account that breaks the rules above, or that is costing other customers a working service. We would rather write to you first, and normally will — but we may act immediately where the harm is ongoing. Every such action is recorded with a reason.
Accuracy
The answers come from your pages, so their accuracy is the accuracy of your pages. We do not check your content, and we do not promise the chatbot will be right about anything — if your delivery terms are out of date on your site, they will be out of date in the answers. Keep your pages current and re-read them after you change them.
Availability
We aim to keep it running and will not pretend to a number we have not measured yet. There is no guaranteed uptime at this stage. Reading a website depends on that website being reachable, and answering depends on services we buy from others; both can fail.
Paying for it
Paid plans are not available yet. When they are, the price, what each plan includes, and the cancellation and refund terms will be published here and on the pricing page before anybody is charged. Nothing on this site takes payment today.
Your content stays yours
Everything you add — your pages, your chatbots, your words — remains yours. You give us permission to store and process it only so far as it takes to run the service for you. The software, the design and the interfaces remain ours.
Ending it
You can close your account at any time from the Account page. Closing it cancels your plan, so you are not charged again, and your chatbots stop answering. We keep the record unless you ask us to erase it. We may end the agreement with notice, or immediately under the rules above.
Liability
We are liable for what the law does not let us exclude, and no further. We are not liable for lost profit, lost business or lost data arising from your use of the service. Where we are liable, it is limited to what you have paid us in the twelve months before the claim — which, while the service is free, is nothing.
Changes
These terms will change as the product does. Meaningful changes will be emailed to the address on your account, and the date at the top of this page always says when it last moved.
Law
India law applies, and its courts settle anything we cannot. See also our privacy policy, which forms part of these terms.
